Re: The End of Silence

Agree with Johansson, I was hooked the first time I heard his work on the arrival.
That was very very clever

Re: Star Wars Battlefront II: Battle of Geonosis Official Trailer

Samy, do you still have that comparison between batman's trailer music with HZ and Herrmann (vertigo) ? I thought that was a great example of how Herrmann's music is still very efficient and so powerful on modern visuals. But you could apply any brutal Goldenthal's score to a recent trailer it would...

Re: Captain Marvel

I guess we judge trailer music today as "music". For me it's been part of Sound Designing process a long time ago. the word music here doesn't apply but afterall I don't really care anymore. Best thing to try out is to cut a part of HZ's Superman score and it should fit almost everywhere in these ne...

Re: The Predator Score: Un-Masked

I remember how amazed I was by this score, at a young age.
With Elfman's batman, these two composers managed to catch my ear at a time I wasn't really paying attention to orchestral scores.

By the way, Am I the only one to find a close link to Goldsmith's Alien use of the Woodwinds ?

Re: Hans Zimmer Strings

Question is, do you want to buy a library like this ? With a shitty sound like that far from 'plug and play' , who cares if there are 400 or even 1000 players, if I press a note and I get the sound of a dying fart, I'd rather buy something else.

Re: Two Steps From Hell - Battle of Dark vs Light

I love how Phil is waiting in silence , in the darkness , ready to attack. I know Headshot and jealousy is not in his program. When you think he's patronizing about the 100% samples track, you're wrong. Never the quality and talent of Bergersen has been challenged. It's about crediting 2 orchestras ...

Doesn't change anything.
Public or Private.
They credited 2 orchestras, he claims he did all with samples, so for me its a no brainer.
He fooled you lul

Re: Two Steps From Hell - Battle of Dark vs Light

Maybe it was the exact other way around and Thomas is not boasting now - but they tried to give their new label with big plans and dreams more gravitas by saying "we did live recordings" No way, it's just illegal/unethical and it's way too risky : the orchestras mentioned could sue them for that. N...

Re: Two Steps From Hell - Battle of Dark vs Light

The problem isn't the use of samples or not but the quality of the samples used at a time it was unconcievable to have that quality. I'll take his Mojo Madness mock up for an example. https://soundcloud.com/frederickruss/1-thomas-j-bergersen-mojo-madness He claims, everything is sample, and that mo...

Re: What makes a Synth Library "outdated" or "cheap" ?

I agree with people above, Phil said something that can sum up everything : the context and the mix
Also Omnisphere has a bit of an issue, most of the 'in your face' sounds may lead to something out dated very fast because the sound itself has to much 'personality'.

Re: Two Steps From Hell - Battle of Dark vs Light

My bad, some Nick tracks are indeed made with live orchestra, didn’t listen carefully, i was so bored :)
