Re: Getting brassy up in here folks....(cinesamples)

Oh god, that demo track with balls above is sounding so bad! The trumpets sound very thin and it sounds very artificial... with some weird staccato to sustain overlay..?
Extremely inelegant!

Re: Beware! VIC mods come this way...

Well, speaking of those features like Staccato legato scripting - actually VSL did many of those repetitions on their libraries years ago! So, I wouldn't say we don't have the technology to accomplish it (maybe not as good as live, but a lot better than what we got)! But the thing is, in spite of s...

Re: Beware! VIC mods come this way...

I didn't know what to think, thought could be either live or samples, especially given there are a lot of short notes and effects/expressions. I don't really know what the best libraries are capable of, maybe it's possible to mockup with such quality Well, most of it will come down to the quality o...

Re: Beware! VIC mods come this way...

The composer (or rather mockup artist) of this very fine Christmas songs is also responsible for fine renditions of Wagner master pieces like this one ... https://soundcloud.com/giscardrasquin/valkyries-jxl-brass Inspired me to do my own version. Should post it and see what JXL thinks! hahaha. http...

Re: John Powell's Mix With The Masters

I'm just at part 2... one thing I learnt for sure is: I WILL NEVER SCORE A DAMN MOVIE, HOLY DAMN! :o After hearing your music, I’d wholeheartedly agree!! JUST KIDDING! On a serious note, why not? I also wouldn’t necessarily want to myself...unless I also wrote and directed it lol... The whole proce...

Re: Beware! VIC mods come this way...

Haha, I almost wish it was me! I listened to the staypuft thing with terrible laptop speakers and well... it sounded like a real recording and I was pretty shocked already that anyone ever believed it was real! No I've been listening again with headphones and I literally laughed hard!!! What a fucki...

Re: Hans Zimmer - Dark Phoenix - Gap

Definitely not one of the greatest tracks I've heard overall... has it's strange parts. But I love the main "chord sequence" theme* in the track that re-appears in variations throughout that track (too many variations for me, sometimes a bit messy IMO - and everything from 2:22 to 2:44 just sounds s...

Re: Game of Thrones

You're certainly not alone. I really don't like this score and also heard the same from several others - composers mind you. I only watched season one and currently stuck at the first 4 episodes of season two (lost one of the discs - damn haha) and the music sometimes didn't only bore but annoy me. ...

Re: Immortal Desires

Thanks for the feedback. Yea, I'm not really focused on traditional orchestral balance. I was using Hollywood Strings here, I started the track before I had CSS. I don't like their dynamic range, as you said it sounds a bit like volume control rather than dynamics, but I think I could've done a bett...

Immortal Desires

https://soundcloud.com/lionel-schmitt-2/immortal-desires I'm very curious about feedback on this one. A pretty classical piece with choir and strings with a modern twist, meant to symbolize an inner conflict... perhaps do you choose the "salvation" but restrictions of religion, or the freedom but "...

Re: Thomas Bergersen - American Dream (40 Minutes Symphony)

o.O how much classical music have you heard? My long time obsession was requiems - because they invoke every emotion they can think of that relates to death... And Verdi(who I just mentioned) was an opera writer - who was extremely used to writing sad, or angry pieces - because he wrote for theatre...
