Favorite Violin concertos

Post by sazema » Wed 30 May 2018 20:43

When I can't decide about the best, why not to listen always both ... :)

I think this one actually was main inspiration for Nino Rota and for Goodfather main theme.

... and there is many more + many more to be discovered. That's the magic of classical music, within each year of your life you're discovering something new even if it's old...

God, Hilary Hahn's tone.... it's just exceptional. I haven't heard her tackle the Lark Ascending, and she nails it.

One of my favorite violin concertos, and (in my opinion), the best performance of it. Sam Barber's Violin Concerto, with Hilary Hahn at the helm...

This piece embodies what I love about great classical writing. A supple, malleable theme that can be transformed through the piece, strong linear counterpoint, and a taste for emotion and passion in the piece. Love it! :)

I love this section of the forum.

I didn't know Khatchaturian's concerto. I'm half-way through it, it's amazing! Thanks for the discovery.

Difficult for me to choose a "favourite" violin concerto. Maybe Beethoven's (yes, seriously). Or Vaughan Williams'. Very difficult to choose.

The Lark Ascending by Hahn is amazing, her interpretation is astounding.

I love Heifetz, and my childhood memories are always bringing me back to Bruch's concerto with this flawless performance.
