Suite No. 1 for Small Orchestra: I. Andante

Post by Audioholic » Mon 4 Mar 2019 16:42

Wouldn’t exactly call this “unknown” but whenever people talk about Stravinsky it’s usually Rite Of Spring or Firebird (which are obviously great) but years ago when I first started getting into his music I fell in love with this short movement from his Suite For Small Orchestra 1. It’s relatively simple, sparse orchestration. Nothing flashy whatsoever...just a really nice piece of writing IMO!

I’m very observant! Just realized I should have put this in the “Unknown Pieces” sub and not this one dedicated to masterpieces! I do like this tune, but it’s not what I’d put up there with the greatest of all time lol.

No problem !
It's a nice piece indeed, first time I hear it.

Nothing to do with the subject, but it must be mentioned : Stravinsky looks like a retard on the CD cover.

Lol - hmmm, well he did marry his own first cousin. Entirely possible that he wasn’t the first to do so in his family tree lmao.
