The 1983 movie by Jim Henson has been granted a prequel with this 10 episodes Netflix show. The majestic score of The Dark Crystal by Trevor Jones made me expect the score of the prequel to be worthy of its legacy.
Trevor Jones did not work on the show, unfortunately. I don't know why, too old maybe.
Daniel Pemberton did the score. I didn't know him before. While watching the show, the music didn't strike me as particularly grand and magical. It did the job I'd say. Some superb scenes were blessed with a great conjunction of elements though !
Afterward, I had listen to the score on its own. I would enjoy some tracks, but when, out of curiosity, I put on a track from the original movie, I realized how far from it the new score sits.
